Update 10/22/12: Izzy has recovered from her surgery and is adjusting to being a 3 legged dog.  She seems happy and enjoys the companionship of her canine friends.  After she is spayed she'll be able to go to her forever home and we couldn't be happier for her!

This is Izzy, and her story is a sad one.  She was surredered to GPMR when her owner reported she had a leg injury.  When we got Izzy we were shocked to see the condition she was in.  Her left rear leg was banaged and swollen about 3X the size of her other leg.  There was fluid leaking through the bandage and the smell was horrible.  With a temp of 105 we rushed her to the vet and they said she was becoming septic.  Izzy was hospitalized and on IV fluids and antibiotics to fight the infection that started in her leg but spread through her body. When vet removed the bandage, the leg was determined to be unsalvagable, 2 toes had basically rotted off and the vets said she would need to have the leg amputated.  She had surgery, did great through the procedure, then had a minor setback with an infection on her incision, but is back in her foster home and on the road to recovery!

izzy's medical expenses are well over $1000 already so please share her story and consider donating to her care.  She will be available for adoption when cleared by the vet.

Izzy is being fostered in the Oklahoma City area.
