Meet Murphy! He is a handsome Mastiff mix boy who was rescued from a shelter in TX. He was found as a stray and when his time at the shelter was up, he came to GPMR!

Murphy's foster mom reports that he is a great guy and very smart. He is not needy like a lot of Mastiffs are so if you are looking for a dog who is more independent, he is your guy! He lives with both a male and female Mastiff and does fine with them, although he is more bonded to the female. He is also good with cats!

Murphy knows how to use the doggie door, he mostly stays in the house but likes to lay in the sun in the backyard in the afternoon. He gets excited for breakfast, dinner and treats. He's started going on neighbor walks and learning quickly from the other dogs how fun that can be! Murphy can be a little stand-offish at first with new people and so needs a family who will understand that he'll need a little time to form that loving bond that he now has with his foster mom.

Murphy does have some mild storm anxiety, where he just needs a quiet and dark place to go and hide during storms. He just hides and shakes, poor guy! We're going to try some calming supplements next time and see if that helps.

Murphy is a great guy, very polite and smart. He's pretty low maintenance and enjoys laying in his bed and lounging. If you like the Mastiff size but not a dog who is so needy, Murphy is your guy! He would be fine in a home with older kids as well.

Murphy is being fostered in Tulsa, OK.
