Meet Ava! This sweet girl came into GPMR when her owner passed away and the family was not able to keep her. Ava is about 1.5 years old. She definitely was scared first arriving into the rescue. Can't blame her, she had been through a lot of change in a short time and we think she was still mourning the loss of her owner. She is definitely shy in new situations but is making excellent progress and learning to go on daily walks and meet new people.

Ava's foster mom has a male Mastiff named Otis and he's been instrumental in her transition to this home. She was really shut down in the beginning but she began watching what Otis was doing and taking cues from him, and she's really coming out of her shell much more quickly with his help! Ava is very active for the Mastiff breed. Her ideal home will have another medium to large size dog, with a friendly and confident personality to help her transition. She loves to play ball and play with other dogs, so a home with an active dog would be great for her.

Ava is being fostered with cats and does just fine with them. Because she is shy with new things, a home with no young kids (under 8) would be best. She would love older kids and an active family who can play ball with her in the yard. She definitely is years away from the "couch potato" status that many Mastiffs have!

Ava was treated for an ear infection and skin infection when we first got her but is doing so much better. Thankfully she tested negative for heartworms!

Ava is being fostered near Tulsa, OK.
