Meet Berkley! She is an owner surrender who came in with a male Mastiff. She is 5 years old. We think they were probably used for breeding stock dogs who lived outside. She definitely had puppies previously but has been spayed, so now she can just enjoy being herself! She has a great, calm temperament and is house trained.

Berkley does not like being crated, but we’ve learned it’s okay, she does fine with free roam. She hasn’t displayed any destructive behavior when left alone in the home. She does best with a family who is home part of the day or can come home at lunch to give her a potty break.

Berkley has a playful side and gets along well with her foster brother. We evaluated her with some kitties and while she seemed curious about them, she got borded pretty quickly and walked away, even from the cat who swatted her in the face! She responds well to praise, affection, and treats. She doesn’t know many commands yet, but she is eager to please and would love to bond over training. She’s nervous about things that she isn’t used to, like loading into vehicles but we have been practicing and she is improving.

Berkley enjoys sunbathing on nice days and is not a fan of rain or snow. She spends her days napping at her foster Mom's feet while she works from home. She just wants to be near her people. We think Berkley is a Bulmastiff/English Mastiff cross. She is built like a tank. She’s short, stocky, and very strong. She has the cutest underbite and will stare into your eyes while petting her. Although she’s very sweet, due to her size and only beginning to learn house boundaries, she shouldn’t live with small children as she could inadvertently knock a little one over.

A little rough around the edges, Berkley is a genuinely good dog that is content and happy to be an indoor pet. She would love to have a home with a canine companion who is a medium-large-or giant! dog. She can play a little rough for small dogs.

Berkley is being fostered in Yukon, OK.
