Our Easter Beggs will not only be filled with yummy treats for your puppies but will also contain surprises for you! Arrive early to get the best selection of Easter Beggs! We will also be accepting $3 donations for bags to collect your Easter Beggs. The funds raised will benefit the Andrea, Artimus, & Mallory Benua Memorial Tribute. On Monday, January 11, Andrea Benua, 34, drowned in a frozen Fort Worth pond while attempting to rescue her beloved Italian Greyhound Artimus and Rottweiler puppy Mallory, after they fell through the ice. The dogs also drowned. Andrea frequently donated time, money, and resources to animal welfare causes. The Fort Worth Dog Park Association will create a memorial tribute in memory of Andrea, Artimus & Mallory, to benefit Fort Woof and its patrons. Depending on the funds raised, our tribute may consist of planting trees, providing a bench or table, or making enhancements to the water station, for example. You can read more about the efforts to raise money for the Andrea, Artimus, & Mallory Benua Memorial Tribute by visiting http://fortwoof.org/

Our main focus for the event will be honoring both 2 and 4 legged First Responders, Fire/Rescue, Law Enforcement and Military. We are planning to have demonstrations by a number of K-9 groups, as well as emergency response and military vehicles. State Representative Phil King and Mayor Dennis Hooks, among others, will be assisting us in recognition of these Heroes. If you, or any other rescues you might recommend, would be interested in attending let us know. We would love to have you! Feel free to forward this on to any rescues/shelters. We have also included the sponsorship form if you know anyone who might be interested in helping to sponsor this event Dr Jarrett will provide $6 rabies vaccinations and $8 Promeris to any of the rescues attending the event. He will also do a wellness check for any rescue/shelter pets adopted during the event. Due to the large number of dogs that will be attending we ask that cats do not attend this event. We do recommend bringing flyers and welcome you to do any fundraising or sales to help provide for kitties, horses, bunnies (somehow we ended up with a bunny this week so know others may have them too!) etc. We also hope to have food donations to send back with rescues and shelters that attend. Thank you all for all the hard work you do and all the lives you save!!

Each Second Friday of the month from 7-11pm, enjoy LIVE on the Plaza, a monthly artwalk featuring live music, featured artists, special events and local shopping. Great Plains Mastiff Rescue has become a part of this monthly experience. It is truly a great time. We would love some of the Mastiffs in rescue to come out, make new friends, check out the local artists and businesses and just hang out and enjoy. Volunteering for this one is a great time.

Thanks to the wonderful response we had last year on having Pam Myers with Imagine If Photography taking pictures of the rescue animals, we have decided to continue on with this FREE service through May. You can come in any time between the hours of 4pm to 7pm on the date... set up for this and she will work on getting wonderful photos of the animals in your rescue for you to use on your websites or Petfinder or where ever else you would like to use them. Again, this service is FREE and you can bring as many animals as you are comfortable with handling. We have decided to go back to using a neutral background so that the pictures do not become “dated”. Any animals that we not adopted in Nov. or Dec. and you would like to bring them back for “non themed” pictures, please feel free to do so. We encourage all volunteers and fosters to take advantage of this service. The proofs will be sent to you by email within a week of the date. If you have any questions regarding this service, please feel free to let me know.
