GPMR does not have a shelter. All of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes. We must have a completed adoption
application on file before meeting any of our mastiffs.
  
GPMR adopts to the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana and parts of Colorado. 
!!!Any mastiffs being adopted out of the state of Oklahoma require a health certificate to be paid for by the adopter!!!

Meet Teddy! This sweet boy was found wandering in rural Texas and rescued by a good Samaritan who reached out to GPMR to take him in. We took him to the vet and guess what - he was microchipped! His owners had gone through a divorce several years ago and rehomed him with a family member and they thought Teddy was still there, so we're not sure what happened. Neither was in a position to take care of Teddy's extensive medical needs so Teddy came into GPMR. We also learned that he is 12 years old!!!!

Teddy is in rough shape. He is emaciated, had fleas and intestinal parasites and tested positive for heartworms. His ears are so infected the canals are practically swollen shut. He has 2 large tumors on his anus, one the size of a grape and the other the size of a tennis ball which was ulcerated. Teddy also has some dental disease, eyelid issues and arthritis. He weighed 106 at his first visit when he should closer to 150-160 lbs.

Despite being in very bad shape, Teddy has an amazing personality. He seems happy and is eating great. We ran labwork which was mostly normal, and after consulting with the vet we decided to proceed with a surgery. The vet removed the largest anal mass as it was partially covering the anus. They also flushed out his ears and started treatment for his infections.

Recovery has been a little hard on this old man and has thrown his appetite off, so our focus right now is getting him eating regularly and put on some much needed weight. Once he's a healthy weight he will be seeking a forever home for Teddy. He does have arthritis like most Mastiffs his age.
