Are Mastiffs easy to train?

Mastiffs can be both easy and difficult to train.  Mastiffs are dogs that live to please.  They are smart in their own way, but some do go through stubborn phases in their early development.

Formal training is a must for Mastiffs. Not only due to their enormous size, but training actually helps bond the owner and Mastiff and can keep problems from developing.

Mastiffs are very sensitive. Once trained, a Mastiff will only need a stern voice for correction.

Great Plains Mastiff Rescue believes that all Mastiffs, especially those who come into rescue, should get into a good, reputable training program. We have had the pleasure of working with K9 University in Oklahoma City since 2006, and have seen the wonderful work they do with our Mastiffs. From the simple Basic Obedience training to the more complicated Behavior Modification training, K9 University has exceeded our expectations and has proven to be an excellent resource for owners of dogs of any breed.  Their love and dedication for training is invaluable.  Thank you K9 University for helping our Mastiffs be the best companions they can be!

In Oklahoma we recommend K9 University:

"K9 University is primarily an educational institution focusing on dog training needs from the most basic needs to the very advanced and specialized training. They are the training rescource experts seek and consult when dealing with problem dogs, complex behavioral issues, and dogs that simply have bad habits.

The founder of K9 University is an established trainer certified by the American Dog Trainers Association (ADTA), the National Dog Trainers Association (NDTA), and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), who has been training dogs and their owners since 1985. " (quoted from the website of K9 University http://www.myk9u.com/)

Please visit K9 University's website to read more about the University, their techniques and their community classes, class schedules and rates.  Great Plains Mastiff Rescue gives them four paws up! Visit them today, not only are they a fantastic training facility, but they are fantastic people.  Give them a call!
