Meet Koda! She was taken to a local shelter after her owners moved out of their apartment and left her and another dog behind. Koda was so very scared at the shelter and so she was labeled as "rescue only" because of this. Thankfully we had some people in the area who were able to help pick her up and transport to her foster home and so she's safe with us now! Koda is estimated at 5 years old. When she first came in, she was definitely on the shy side with new people but once she warms up, she's a cuddle bug! She loves to sit on you and snuggle for short time periods and and loves playing chase. She was a little weary in the beginning and prefers men over women, but listens and obeys both. She will "counter surf" meaning that if there's food left on the counters and she's home alone, she'll pull it down and eat it. So her adopters would need to make sure all food items are in cabinets or in a pantry with the door closed. Koda is a dog that does require a family with Mastiff experience. She has tried to be possessive of her foster Dad and so we've worked on some training and things to let her know that she's not the boss. Because of this she will require an adult only home. Currently she is fostered with a Yorkie and lived with a Chihuahua previously. Cats are unknown. Families with other large dogs we'll need to schedule a meet and greet to make sure they get along. Koda was heartworm negative, and other than some ear issues has been healthy. She's a little overweight so we're working on that. Once she recovers from her spay, she'll be ready for adoption!
